They say men are from Mars and women are from Venus but Toronto-based singer Rayelle burns with a passion so hot that she could only be from the Sun. Equal parts sassy and sexy, Rayelle has been stealing spotlights and microphones since before Kanye even heard of Taylor Swift. Her first live performance at the age of 10 was meant to be a lip synch but that poor stage manager learned the hard way that an immovable object must surrender when met with an unstoppable force.
Somewhere along her fall back to Earth, Rayelle lost sight of who she was. Years passed by as she reluctantly blended in an effort to be what humans call “normal”, losing touch to the music that initially sparked the fire in her soul.
It wasn’t until 2011’s Miss Perfect 10 Pageant that Rayelle’s musical amnesia would vanish as she found her own voice with a new love for folk music and a pawnshop guitar. Since then she’s placed as a finalist in Spectra Talent Contest sponsored by Gibson, winning several prizes including her now prized Masterbilt Epiphone. Rayelle was a featured soloist in the successful recording of “Without Words”, co-written by Genie Award winner Paul Bellini.
It was also through the Spectra Talent Contest that Rayelle was noticed by hit-songwriter/producer Mark Zubek (Grammy Winning Betty Carter). They have since started working on the first single off her upcoming record, due for release in mid-2015.
Rayelle regularly performs around Toronto including venues such as Cadillac Lounge, The London Pub and WEGZ Stadium Bar, to name a few. She has also performed for many charitable organizations and fundraisers such as SickKids Hospital Foundation, Autism Sings and Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario.
Rayelle is known for her high-energy and interactive performances as well as her soulfully rich, powerful vocals and three octave range.
