When one of singer, Madeleine Wood’s tracks was recently featured on Armin van Buuren’s radio show she was understandably ecstatic! Vanbuuren made the track 'Tune of the Week' on his show ASOT and Wood says it was: “a bit of an I-need-to-pinch-myself-to-check-if-I’m-awake' moment”.

You can see why she was so excited. Armin van Buuren is kind of a big deal. But he’s not the only one who has recognised Gamla Stan, the song in question.

The record was received really well and has been played by some big-wigs in the game such as Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten as well as Armin van Buuren.

It was also included on Armada Music 'Vocal Trance Hits 2017-02' compilation - another source of much excitement for Madeline and her collaborators on the track.

Gamla Stan is a collaboration between Italian producer Francesco Sambero, German duo Kyau & Albert (Euphonic Records), and singer, Madeleine Wood. The original idea for the track came about when Francesco was holidaying in the town of Gamla Stan, Sweden.

Wood has been working with Francesco Sambero since she moved to London in 2014. The two of them connected through Vocalizr.com when Sambero reached out to Wood, and have about 3-4 releases together. When looking for the perfect vocalist for his new, holiday inspired track, Gamla Stan, Madeleine was one of the first he sent the demo to.

She explains how the collaboration came together seamlessly: “The first vocal draft I sent back to them was loved by all so naturally we continued with the project.”

The internet has made it possible for singers and producers from all around the globe to collaborate remotely, so the process from there was a typical, remotely organised one, with lots of file transfers back and forth until all parties were happy with the final result.

Madeleine loves how easy the internet has made it to collaborate with with other talented artists “but in many cases it means that you never get to meet the people you are working with which is slightly annoying since I am such a people person!” she laments affably. “I would have loved to record the final vocals with both production teams in the studio but that wasn't the case with this project. I tracked the final vocals here in London with my engineer and sent over the raw vocal stems for the boys to play around with.”

“It's a super trancey track but definitely has some balls to it.” Madeleine explains, and this is one of the reasons she loves the track. “I LOVE the deep, dark synth pad used throughout the track. That pad does things to my body as soon as I hear it!”

She thinks Gamla Stan is a great track because it really takes you on a journey, and we are inclined to agree. It starts and ends with an electro/clubby feel but the middle section has a real trance 'put your hand ups in the air' vibe to it and the vocals are lush, “if I do say so myself.” Madeleine boasts good-naturedly.

The track is a fantastic success for yet another Vocalizr-forged collaboration and we couldn’t be happier for Madeleine, Francesco, Kyau & Albert. Keep it up guys!
